John Muir Way is a 135 miles
(216 kilometres) way-marked walking trail. This is the east section of the route from Falkirk to Dunbar. The route can be walked in either direction and for those looking for a longer walking holiday it can be linked to a walking holiday on the
West Highland Way.
|This walking trail
uses a mixture of public footpaths and canal towpaths. The route is mainly
low-level with moderate gradients and no seriously long climbs. The highest
point is Gouk Hill at 885 feet (270 m) above sea level.
John Muir (1838-1914) the pioneer, traveller, mountaineer and father of the United States' national parks, was born in Dunbar, Scotland.
